  11. I have been using this modem for several months on a Quadra 950 and am
  12. generally happy with it.
  13.  
  14. It has a couple of annoyances:
  15.  
  16. 1. It only has 3 lights, modem on, carrier detect, and receive data. I
  17. would prefer more lights.
  18. 2. I have been unable, not have GV been able to tell me how to know how
  19. fast I actually
  20. am running when connecting to the internet.
  21. 3. Their Global Village fax software is quite nice, but ptoprietary to
  22. their modem only.

  24. If I were buying again , I would consider the Practical Peripherals modem that
  25. has several LCD display lines, or one with more LED status lights.
  26.  
  27. Also if you need voice, ans. machine and fax sharing make sure the modem
  28. you buy has that feature, as the platinum has.
  29.  
  30. I would not buy a modem that doesn't have Flash ROM, as the platinum does,
  31. sothat you can download ROM updates
  32. as necessary from the net.
